The Episcopal Conference of Zaire is very pleased to take part in this special Synod of Bishops for Africa which it wished and called for since 1980 at the time of the first visit of the Holy Father to Zaire.
On tackling the theme of evangelisation of Africa at the dawn of the third millennium, the Church on African ground is confronted with a major challenge: the one of proclaiming the Good News of salvation amidst populations in distress and in danger of extermination by fratricidal and absurd wars.
This challenge requires priests having exceptional quality as mediators. Only by winning this challenge it will be possible for them to become credible and convincing witnesses of a Church called to rectify valuations mistakes, correct false news reflected through the world media in order to fight better against hate and aggressiveness of enemy brothers.
