Bishop Gabriel KEMBO
(Bishop of Matadi, Zaïre)

Expressing great gratitude for the help and generous
assistance of material goods received from sister Churches, the Episcopal
Conference of Zaïre hopes that responsibility of our Churches by themselves
is a need. Reasons for this are of methodological and pastoral, ecclesiological
and soteriological order. Since our populations lay stagnant in poverty
and misery. If our ecclesial communities remain eternally beggars, how
can they contribute to social cultural development of our society and help
the faithful to build their own city?
On the other hand, the Church is human and divine;
she must guarantee and take on the responsibility of her fate; certainly,
in communion with other sister Churches but as an adult capable of helping
the others.
