Rev. José CHIPENDA
General Secretary,
Pan African Conference of Churches, Kenya

The presence of the All Africa Conference of Churches
at this Synod of Bishops is a step forward in our ecumenical journey. It
may also mark the beginning of a new co-operation among our Churches at
a time Africa is shaken by internal and external forces. The widespread
misery caused by natural and man-made disasters, undoubtedly stands in
contradiction with the abundant life we find in Christ (Jn. 10,10). As
we embrace the third millennium, there is need for Christians in Africa
to stand together, own the Gospel, and witness to Him who died and rose
to give us eternal life (Jn. 3,16).
